Experimenting Galileo on Board the International Space Station
نویسندگان
چکیده
ESA and NASA have a cooperation related to the demonstration of the value for space users of using dual GNSS system (GPS plus Galileo) receiver compared to use of a single GNSS system (GPS) receiver. For this demonstration a joint ESA-NASA activity has been initiated, based on the use of NASA’s SCAN Testbed on-board the International Space Station (ISS). The joint project has several objectives, e.g. generation of GPS and Galileo waveform, evaluation of signal performance, generation of PVT and also generation of a Precise Orbit Determination (POD). In this context, Qascom, has a contract with ESA for designing a Software Defined Radio Galileo/GPS Receiver for accurate positioning and timing that will be installed and experimented on the International Space Station (ISS) in the Space Communications and Navigation (SCaN) Testbed. The SCaN Testbed is an advanced and integrated communications system and laboratory facility that uses a new generation of Software Defined Radio (SDR) technologies that allows researchers to develop, test, and demonstrate new communications, networking, and navigation capabilities in space.

متن کاملAn intelligent system for monitoring the microgravity environment quality on-board the International Space Station
An intelligent system for monitoring the microgravity environment quality on-board the International Space Station is presented. The monitoring system uses a new approach combining Kohonen 's self-organizing feature map, learning vector quantization and back propagation neural network to recognize and classify the known and unknown patterns. Finally, fuzzy logic is used to assess the level of c...

New Gnss Developments and Their Impact on Survey Service Providers and Surveyors
The surveying and mapping industry has been revolutionised by the use of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), involving satellites, ground reference station infrastructure and user equipment to determine positions around the world. The Global Positioning System (GPS) from the USA is the best known, and currently fully operational, GNSS. Russia also operates its own GNSS called GLONASS. F...
متن کاملSolar particle event detected by ALTEA on board the International Space Station
Context. Solar activity poses substantial risk for astronauts of the International Space Station (ISS) both on board and during extravehicular activity. An accurate assessment of the charged radiation flux in space habitats is necessary to determine the risk and the specific type of radiation exposure of ISS crew members, and to develop ways to protect future crews for planetary missions, even ...
